Biology : Deciduous shrub or tree, unarmed, 6-15 m; flowers appearing 'before the leaves.
Ecology : Scattered-tree grassland, riverine forest, old termite-mounds; 600-1500 m (E Africa: Nile basin) – Riverine or swamp forest, forest edges (Fl. Zambes. area) – Forest, fringing forest, savanna (Zaire). Often planted in W Africa.
