Biology : Expanded half-shrub, 30-100 cm tall, with woody, deep rootstock.

Ecology : Various desert communities with Anabasis articulata, Retama raetam, Zilla spinosa, etc.; sandy ground incl. wadis, rocky outcrops, slopes, both on granite and limestone; semi-desert with Artemisia herba-alba, Pyrethrum santolinoides; 100-2500 m alt.
