Shrub 0,2-1(-2) m tall, single-stemmed, unbranched, very rarely forked with two erect parallel stems; stem terminated by a congested pseudowhorl of leaves of which the apical ones may be very much reduced in size; leaves to 35 cm long, blade broadly ovate, 3-17x3-13 cm, apex acuminate, base rounded with a winged pseudopetiole 1-20x0,3-0,9 cm; inflorescence terminal, tipped by a single glomerule of 10-20 or more flowers, white, c. 1,6 cm long, tube c. 1 cm long, lobes 5x2 mm; fruit globose to depressed globose, c. 1-1,5 cm Ø, bright orange. |
