Biology : Subacaulescent herb; leaves few, rosulate, erect, ovate, 15-17x10-11 cm, base rounded, apex acuminate, midrib indistinct but with 6-8 deeply impressed secondary nerves; petiole 20-30 cm long; inflorescence a globose head, surrounded by large ovate bracts; fruit globular.
Ecology : Forest; 550-950 m alt.
  Very similar to D. kupensis in growth form. Confused with D. phrynioides in W Africa
