Trop. Afr.
Biology : Annual herb with appressed or subpatulous silky hairs, 4-40 cm tall; stems solitary, few or many, delicate, flexuous, terete, erect or ascending, mostly branching above.
Ecology : Grassland; moor; meadows; 1200-3000 m alt.
  Exceedingly polymorphic.
  Eurasia; Canary Islands to Egypt-Middle East. Adventice in many other countries (S. Africa; E Canada, N and SE U.S.A., etc.).
