Biology : Erect prostrate or ascending herb, 4-35 cm tall; stems 4-angled.
Ecology : Damp ground, seasonal freshwater, short grass and sedge, swamps on sandy soil, wet sandy silt at edge of drying-up pools; 0-450 m alt. Comprises 2 vars. Egypt; S. Africa, Namibia, Swaziland, Botswana.
