Biology : Shrub or tree 7-10(-25) m tall, with a stout trunk 0,6-1 m , somewhat resembling that of the baobab; primary branches stiff and very stout; bark peeling in papery flakes; flowers appearing before the leaves.

Ecology : Acacia, Acacia-Commiphora and Acacia-Terminalia woodland and bushland on gravelly to stony soil; often on rocky slopes and lava-flows or on the top of rocky outcrops; 1-1775 m alt.
