Biology : Coarse perennial (rarely annual) herb or subshrub to >1,5 m tall; variable in habit and foliage.

Ecology : Clearings and paths in rain-forest, secondary forest and scrub; riverbanks; degraded bushland; weed; in shade; 1-2200 m alt. Southern Africa; Egypt; pantropical (weed). The commonest and most widespread species of Triumfetta in E Africa.
  Confused with T. pentandra.
