Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Annual herb, 10-40 cm high; usually much-branched from near Open rocky ground, usually on gypsum hills; 200-1100 m alt.
Ecology : Grassland, sandy or muddy roadsides; and sporadic weed of cultivated ground; 0-2500 m alt. Cape Verde Isl.; Algeria, Egypt; Socotra; S. Africa (Transvaal), Botswana, Namibia; tropical Arabia and India. Comprises 2 subspp.
