Biology : Herb slender, 8-35 cm tall, usually flowering before the leaves; bulb ovoid, 1,5-3 cm Ø; leaves filiform, to 2 mm wide; scape 1-2 mm Ø, erect, glabrous; raceme lax, with 20-30 flowers; pedicels 1-8 mm long; perianth segments free, oblong, white with a green or brown abaxial band, 3-4 mm long; capsule narrowly ovoid-ellipsoid, 4-5 mm long; seeds not winged.
Ecology : Grasslands; rocky outcrops; on tufts of sedge; often in dambos; 1200-3350 m alt.
