Biology : Spiny, biennial or perennial shrublet 10-30 cm tall, with woody base; stems many, much-branched, procumbent, brittle.

Ecology : Dry sands or sandy desert; clayey sand on sandstone; sandy “reg”; “hamada”; stony slopes. Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Egypt; Arabia, Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan. Not in Kenya (= F. paulayana).
