Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Extensively rhizomatous pyrophytic subshrub; stems 7-50 cm tall, caespitose, usually unbranched unless not burnt back to ground level each year; occasionally escaping fire and then sparsely branched.
Ecology : Grassland with other subshrubs at the edge of seasonally waterlogged grassland (dambos); abandoned cultivations and secondary grassland replacing woodland and forest; wooded savanna; 1000-2150 m alt.
