Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Shrub or tree, much-branched, often with a drooping habit, to 8 m tall; branchlets with slender ±straight axillary spines to 6 cm long, sometimes unarmed.
Ecology : Evergreen forest edges; fringing and gallery forest; secondary forest; wooded savanna; even in xerophilous bush (Ericetum); dune forest; rain-forest; thickets; thin stony woods; 0-2600 m alt.
