Biology : Herb to 3 m tall, often somewhat woody below, reclining at base but erect and well-branched, with erect floating pneumatophores arising from roots under water.
Ecology : Marshes, along streams, rivers, lakes; 0-1890 m alt.; often abundant. Caprivi Strip, Botswana, S. Africa; Madagascar; from SE USA, West Indies to Peru and Argentina.
