Biology : Irregular leafless shrub to 1,2 m tall, sometimes with a relatively slender central stem usually not medusoid; stems ascending, 5-10 mm thick with 3 or 5 spiral ranks of tubercles; spiny.
Ecology : Stony slopes with very sparse vegetation; near sea-level-700 m alt.
  SW Saudi Arabia, Yemen.
