Biology : Densely tufted succulent perennial with a thick fleshy root; stems densely branching from the base, sparsely so above, erect to 15 cm or decumbent and occasionally stoloniferous, to 50(-100) cm long, 5-8 mm thick,
Ecology : Sandy rocky soils with Acacia bushland, usually in the open; Acacia-Commiphora-Entada woodland or bushland in crevices of basement complex rocks near to seasonal river; ± 1050-1850 m alt.
  Comprises 2 subspp.: - septentrionalis and gamugofana M. G. Gilbert
  Near E. schinzii.
