Biology : Perennial, densly long-hairy (white) herb with subligneous stems (sometimes persistent) 0,2-2,5 m tall; rhizome stout, producing thick underground white runners with very scattered cataphylls.
Ecology : Wet places: swamps, marshes, beside rivers and lakes; 0-3100 m alt. Not in Somalia. Canary Isl., Cape Verde Isl., N Africa to Egypt; S. Africa; Namibia; Europe; temperate Asia to China.
