Biology : Erect herbaceous subshrub 5-30 cm tall, giving off numerous branches from the summit of a woody rootstock. – In fruit having the appearance of a species of Geum.
Ecology : Grassy savanna; sandy ground on slopes of hills; white sandy ground on edge of wood; dry meadows; 1400-1815 m alt. Comprises 3 vars: var. geoides, var. lanceolata R. Wilczek and var. rugosa Sprague & Hutch.
