Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Erect or ascending perennial herb, 15-60 cm high, with a tuberous usually much-branched towards base.
Ecology : Grassland, savanna, riverine vegetation, scrub mopane, “bushveld”, etc.; weed of roadsides and cultivation; loose red sand, gritty loam, gravel (hard limestone), serpentine and basalt. Comprises 2 vars. Botswana, Namibia, S. Africa.
