Trop. Afr.
Biology : Liane 1-30 m tall; main stem >6 cm ?; internodes smooth, flexible, green; bark yellow-orange below the surface; dried twigs and leaves with yellowish powder (cf. S. longipes); fruit orange-red, much longer than wide, 6-10 x 2,4-4 cm, pulp sweet, edible.
Ecology : Various types of rain-forest on firm ground; secondary formations, even on recent temporary roads; near sea shore; fallow land with young Musanga cecropioides; savanna thickets on sandy soil. Near sea-level to 650 m alt.
