Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Tree to 6-8(-12) m high, or more frequently (in E Africa) a much-branched coppicing shrub to 5 m high; often with drooping branches.
Ecology : Wooded grassland and dry Acacia-Commiphora bushland, sometimes dominant; Acacia woodland; usually on sandy or silty soil; rocky slopes; sometimes along rivers (N Kenya); 1- 2700 m alt. Comprises 3 subspp. S. Africa, Namibia, Botswana.
