Biology : Terrestrial or epiphytic herb (2,5-)5-15(-25) cm tall, with compact, stout, ±elongated rhizome, 1-5,5 mm , the apical part horizontal or ascending; leaves peltate, crispy-juicy to succulent.

Ecology : Forest , Aframomum thickets, on level or steep sites, slopes, often near streams and waterfalls; in shade on mossy wet rocks or rockfaces, in rock fissures; epiphytic on mossy tree trunks or decaying trees; 1-1100 m alt. (see more in the book)
