Biology : Perennial herb with procumbent or ascending stems to 60 cm (to 2 m) long, from a woody rootstock or taproot.
Ecology : Combretum-Terminalia woodland on clay; (burnt) grassland on black cotton soil; also weed of cultivations on clay soils; marshy ground; depressions; roadsides; 1-2000 m alt. Caprivi Strip, Botswana, S. Africa (Transvaal).
