Biology : Epiphytic, sometimes lithophytic herb; pseudobulbs clustered, 1-leafed, ovoid, 2-4x0,6-2,4 cm, 2-4-angled, wrinkled; leaf petiolate (1,5-3,5 cm), linear-lanceolate, 5-28x1-3 cm, leathery; inflorescence 8,5-40 cm long, sometimes branched, densely 7-80-flowered, arching or pendulous; peduncle 1-2,2 cm long; rachis 3-22 cm long; bracts recurved, oblong, 2,5-7,5x1-3 mm; flowers white, pale greenish, pink or orange (-red), with a strong fruity scent; sepals lanceolate, 4-12x1-3,2 mm; petals oblong-ovate, 1,8-5x0,6-1,7 mm; lip ovate, 1,5-2,7x0,8-1,6 mm, recurved in basal half, margins papillose.
Ecology : Evergreen forest; “elfine type of moss forests”; forest gallery; high-rainfall woodland; Brachystegia-Uapaca woodland; on lava, boulders; on shrubs, high branches and trunks of tall trees; in moss and lichens; “usually plentiful where it occurs”; 0-2400 m alt.
