Biology : Epiphytic, rarely lithophytic herb; pseudobulbs 3-12 cm apart, 2-leaved, ovoid, 3,5-9x2,5-4 cm; leaves petiolate (1-3 cm), ± lanceolate, 4-39x1,5-5,5 cm, thick; inflorescence 25-80 cm long, 25-65-flowered; peduncle 14-45 cm long with tubular, white papery scales 1,5-2,5 cm long; rachis widened, flattened, often leaf-like, 10-45x0,5-1,5 cm, with fine dull chocolate-brown hairs; bracts ovate, 3,5-8x3-7 mm; flowers distichous, 6-23 mm apart, yellowish with dark purple markings; sepals obovate, 5-9x2-5 mm, glabrous to finely papillose above; petals lanceolate, 3,8-5,5x0,6-1 mm, glabrous or coarsely papillose; lip ovate, 2-3x1-2 mm, sometimes constricted at middle, margins serrulate near base.
Ecology : Forest gallery; open forest or Cryptosepalum and Brachystegia woodland; in crown of trees; on rocks; lowland to c. 1660 m alt.
  Comprises 2 subspp.: - subsp. injoloense in N Zaire, with leaves 14-27 cm long, flowers 14-20 mm apart; - subsp. pseudoxypterum (J. J. Verm.) J. J. Verm. (bas.: B. injoloense var. pseudoxypterum J. J. Verm.) in S part of range, with leaves 4-14 cm long, flowers 6-11 mm apart.
