Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Small, clustering or much rarely solitary palm; stem erect, to 1.5-5 m tall; leaves extremely long, to 20 m, leaflets to 130-180 on each side of rachis; fruits oblong to near cylindrical, 5-9.5 cm long and 3-4.5 cm in diameter, covered by yellowish-brown to orange-brown scales.
Ecology : Reported to grow in fresh water riparian vegetation and swamps; it may also exhibit some degree of salt tolerance.
