Biology : Shrub or tree 9-25 m tall; trunk 1,5 m in girth; crown ± flattened; bark smooth, grey or grey-brown; young branchlets usually ± sparingly puberulous or shortly pubescent.
Ecology : Deciduous forest; coastal plains; forest gallery; occasionally in woodland, perhaps as a relict; 60-1370 m alt.
  Comprises 3 vars.
  Very similar to A. zygia and often confused with it.
