Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Branching shrub 0,4-5 m tall, or rarely a tree; hairs on the stems white or fulvous, of two kinds -a: short and dense, -b: sparser, weak, spreading, to 3 mm long.
Ecology : Wooded savannas; grassland; heathland; scrub; forest edges; descending into miombo woodland along streams; rocky grassland; Philippia-Vaccinium-Hypericum-Halleria zonz; mountain slopes; 1000-2500 m alt.
  S. Africa.
  Widespread and fairly uniform on higher ground from southern Uganda, S Kenya, Tanzania and the eastern Congo to the extreme north of Zambia; restricted to the higher mountain masses further south, it show considerable differentiation [see in the book]
