Biology : Annual twining herb to >1 m tall; stem with long (1,2-1,9 mm) spreading hairs; stipules ovate, narrow (although broader than in V. mango); flower pale greyish yellow.
Ecology : Swampy grassland; disturbed ground; ± 1-1000 m alt.
  Madagascar; Middle East-Oman; S Asia-India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh; SE and E Asia, Papua New Guinea; Australia.
  Var. radiata is the cultivated true mung bean or green gram [bas.: Phaseolus radiatus L.; syn.: P. aureus Roxb.; Vigna mungo sensu Hepper im F.W.T.A., Ed. 2,1: 569, 1959, non (L.) Hepper;
  £Phaseolus mungo£ sensu auctt., e. g. Torra in Consp. Fl. Angol. 3: 261, 1966, non L.]. Believed to have been domesticated in India, but domestication that happened more than once is not excluded.
  Nomemclature often confused with that of V. munfo (L.) Hepper, a plant limited to India, Pakistan, etc. According to P. Saravanakumar & al. [AFLP and RAPD analyses of intra- and interspecific variation in some Vigna subgenus Ceratotropis (Leguminosae)
