Biology : Erect perennial herb with 1- several branched or unbranched stems 4-25(-70) cm tall, from a woody rootstock or series of small tubers ±1,5 x 1,2 cm; stems covered, with short hairs and longer yellow hairs mostly with thickened glandular bases.
Ecology : Grassland, often seasonally burnt; open Brachystegia woodland; Protea scrub and grassland; damp places amongst granite rocks; grassy savannas; humid ground with humus; 1120-2400 m alt.
  Comprises 5 vars.
