Biology : Perennial heb, often subshrubby 0,2-3 m tall, branched; branches angular, mostly erect, sometimes straggling or trailing, pubescent to densely shaggy with ferruginous hairs.
Ecology : Grassland; scrub; bushland; forest edges; sclerophyllous forest; open dambos; lake edge grassland; fringing wet mushitu; stream banks; lava; fallow land; rain-forest with Albizia, Macaranga, Croton, Ocotea; sometimes very common; 900-2520 m alt.
  Comprises ?5 vars.: - Var. brevipedunculatum Verdc. is not worth retaining according to Verdcourt in Fl. Zambes. 3/5: 226, 2001.
  First collections from Sudan in 1980.
