Biology : Erect or decumbent perennial herb with 1-several, usally unbranched stems 3-15 cm tall, from a round or turnip-shaped tuber 1-2,5 cm long and 0,5-2,2 cm wide; stems leafy, somewhat zigzag, slender, pubescent with appressed or spreading white hairs.

Ecology : Brachystegia woodland on decomposed rock; fireswept eroded hillside, usually amongst quartz pebbles; bushland; shallow soil near rock outcrop; verge of road in sandy red soil; roadside in Brachystegia, Uapaca woodland on red soil; Brachystegia, etc..
