Biology : Perennial herb with 1-few erect unbranched or sparsely branched stems 8-35(-50) cm tall, either short and condensed and very leafy or more elongated; rootstock a globose or ovoid tuber, 1,5-4 x 1-2,5 cm;
Ecology : Grassland; Brachystegia, Uapaca and other deciduous woodlands on poor soil; wooded-grassland and savanna; grassy savanna; dry and moist dambo edges; swampy grassland; Protea scrub; dry thickets; roadsides; 540-2240 m alt.
