Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Prostrate annual or perennial herb; stems 5-8 cm long, rooting at the nodes, pubescent to ± glabrous.
Ecology : Dry savanna woodland with Combretum, Boswellia, Gardenia; 280 m alt. (Cameroon, wild plant); sand (Central Afr. Rep., wild).
  Comprises 2 vars., one cultivated [var. geocarpum], the other wild [var. tisserantii (Pellegr.) Maréchal & Baudet]; the more recent works indicate that the two taxa belong to different species.
