Biology : Perennial herb with annual erect, simple to branched stems 10-37(-100) cm tall, ascending from a vertical sympodial ± woody but slender, rhizomatous, horizontally spreading rootstock.
Ecology : Bushland; deciduous open woodlands with Brachystegia; upland grasslands; 1430-1800 m alt.
  S. Africa (vars. comosa, capricornia and lanata).
  Comprises 2 vars. in our area: - var. capricornia Steyaert (Congo-Kinshasa, Tanzania); - var. lanata Steyaert
  Similar to C. wittei in the perennial habit, larger leaves and leaflets.
