Ecology : Rather damp shady places, meadows and thickets. Habitat recalling that of a Leucojum; 700-1200 m alt.
  Comprises 2 subspp.: -subsp. aequinoctialis with 3-lobed corona; -subsp. monantha (Engl. & Gilg) R. B. Burb. with crenate corona.
