Biology : Woody climber, erect shrub or tree to 8 m tall; young stems and inflorescences covered with a rather dark chocolate brown indumentum; seeds scarlet.
Ecology : Gallery forest; river banks; riverine and secondary forests; rain-forest; secondary bush; farm regrowth thicket.

  The specimen Chaper s.n. (comm. 1882) is probably not from Central African Republic but from Ivory Coast.
