Biology : Straggling or climbing herb 0,3-2,1 m long, often considered to be an annual, but rootstock not known and, judging by the woody bases of some stems and several field notes, probably always a perennial;
Ecology : Grassland; moorland; bamboo forest; forest edges; swampy places; meadow; old lavas; formations with Acanthus; clearings; stream banks; 1380-4100 m alt.
  Comprises 2 vars.
  Not in Ethiopia (= Vicia paucifolia ).
