Biology : Woody subshrub, erect, ascending or more rarely prostrate, 0,4-1,5 m tall, with a stout and woody rootstock; stems often flowering when leafless and sometimes from very short burnt-off stems nearly at ground level.
Ecology : Brachystegia, Julbernardia, Combretum woodland; Brachystegia longifolia or Brachystegia woodlands; dambo; 1200-1800 m alt.
