Ecology : Mixed woodland and bushland; generally on Acacia sometimes on Combretum.
  Local forms ± hairy exist. Intergrading between the subspecies recorded from S. Africa.
  Up to 600 m alt. (sub-sp. natalitius); 300-1400 m (subsp. zeyheri). Related to A. microphyllus.
  S. Africa, Swaziland, Botswana.
