Trop. Afr.
Biology : Bushy shrub or tree to 2(-5) m tall, or sometimes a rhizomatous shrublet ±5-40 cm tall, evergreen, frequently galled; branches rather stout, ±ascending and flattened.
Ecology : Brachystegia or mixed deciduous woodland; bushland, forest; among rocks; usually on sandy soils; 0-800 m alt. Not in Malawi.
