Biology : Shrub or tree (rarely a subshrub) 2-6(-10) m tall; trunk to 30 cm.
Ecology : Rain-forest; gallery and secondary forest; forest regrowth; to 1600 m alt. Not in Ethiopia. See below under C. hiernii for relationships with this species.
