Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Tree 40-60 m; bole long, straight, clear, 120-180 cm , with large buttresses and fluted; crown long, narrow of steeply ascending branches; flowering after appearence of the new leaves.
Ecology : Evergreen moist rain-forest; with Saccoglottis gabonensis, Coula edulis, Cynometra hankei (Cameroon); 550-1300 m alt. One of the giants of the rain-forest. – One of the most exploited species for timber in Cameroon.
