Biology : Herb from a short rhizome; roots thick, without tubers; leaves rosulate, glabrous, 12-30 x c. 1 cm; peduncle 25-45 cm long, c. 2 mm Ø; inflorescence 10-15 cm long, branched; pedicels 5 mm long, articulated at or above middle, 2-4 per node; perianth urnshaped, greenish to brownish; tepals to 5x1 mm, 3-veined; capsule transversely ridged, to 4x5 mm.
Ecology : Scattered in waterlogged habitats: moist dambo, floodplain with sedges, marsh, on dried mud; floodplain with Crinum verdoorniae, Kniphofia sp., Bulbine sp.; 900-1180 m alt.
  Confused with C. polystachys.
