Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Not or slightly ramose, semi-woody shrub to 1,2(-3) m tall; branches thick, brittle, subherbaceous under the inflorescence.
Ecology : Fringing forest; at waterfalls; dark gullies; rocky river banks; sometimes epiphytic. Rather variable. Very decorative plant cultivated in greenhouses in temperate countries; worthy of cultivation in open shade in tropical countries.
