Biology : Aloe-like plants, but not succulent; with thick horizontal rhizome
Ecology : Genus of 64-70 species
  A few species are cultivated as ornamentals, e.g. K. uvaria (L.) Oken from SW Cape Province, and its hybrids, known as Red Hot Pokers.
  Tropical and South Africa (absent from Namibia and Botswana), S Arabian Peninsula, Madagascar
