Biology : “A small group of long-stemmed, monopodial epiphytic plants, most of which…described under Angraecum…” (I. & E. la Croix, Afric. orchids wild & cult.: 323, 1997). The stems are often scandent, with many long roots arising all along the stem; inflorescences axillary; flowers small with free sepals and petals; lip often small with a tubular spur. “In some species the lip blade is so insignificant and the rest of the flower so small that the flower at first sight seems to consist of only a spur” (Stewart & al., Angraecoid orchids: 373, 2006).
Ecology : Genus of 4 species in tropical Africa (map in Pridgeon & al., Gen. orchid. 6: 438, 2014). The plants are not showy but all are in cultivation.
