Ecology : Evergreen forest; forest edges; clearings; plantations; thickets; bushland; grassland; woodland; roadsides; sometimes in rocky places in moist situations; riversides; 0-1700 m alt.
  Near C. kotschyi. Confused with C. imberbis (allopatric), C. mascarenica; striking vegetative resemblance to some specimens of C. latifolia. First collected in 1969 (Faden, l.c. p. 474), described in 2008.
  Madagascar (a single collection).
