Biology : Differs from subsp. natalensis by its leathery, often grey-green leaves which frequently have truncate apices, and its larger fig which ripens yellow.)
Ecology : Granite-dweller, woodland species largely confined to granite outcrops where it grows among boulders or, most rarely as a strangler.
  Described in 2003 but collected before in 1922, 1951, 1952, 1980, 1992, 1996 and sometimes cited as subsp. natalensis (e.g. in Fl. Zambesiaca 9(6):67, 1991, specim. Plowes 1332, Dehn s.n.;
