Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : In coastal habitats from NE S Africa to C Mozambique, with lilac, pale bluish or white flowers, with indigo markings on lower tepals, upper tepal 9-12 mm long.
Ecology : Widely known under the name Anomatheca (or later Lapeirousia) cruenta in horticulture. For cultivars and hybrids, see Fenwick in Bulbs 6/2: 16-18, 2004.
  One of the earliest Freesia to be discovered but its identity remained uncertain for over a century.
